This laser works to specifically target and damage hair follicles on the face and body to prevent regrowth, for a smoother area with reduced hair. Clients can expect a 15% decrease in hair growth after each session resulting in less hair and finer regrowth.
Laser hair removal is most commonly performed on the face, upper lip, neck, chest, underarms, back, abdomen, bikini line, and legs, although it can be performed on virtually any area with excess hair growth.

Laser hair removal FAQS
How does the laser treatment work?
The laser creates a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat. Candela’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™) technology protects the upper layers of your skin with a cooling burst of cryogen.
What can I expect during treatment?
You will wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from the laser light. Your technician will guide the laser over the area being treated by using a small handpiece. Prior to the laser pulse, a puff of cryogen is sprayed in the area to cool the skin. Your treatment could take a few minutes or up to an hour; This depends on how many areas are being treated.
Does it hurt?
Some clients may feel a slight discomfort with the laser pulse, sometimes described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort is minimized by Candela’s DCD cooling. For some clients, a topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Typically, permanent hair removal requires anywhere from 4-10 treatments (some clients require more) depending on the area treated every 4-6 weeks or every 6-8 weeks. The fee for hair removal depends on the size of the area, and we are happy to provide you with more information when you call.
How do I prepare for treatment?
The day before your treatment, shave the area you are having treated, in order to get the best results for you. No tanning (either by direct sun or tanning bed) 2 week before treatment, and no tanning creams. If you have had sun exposure, your treatment may be pushed out to a later time to safeguard against adverse reactions. No plucking or waxing. No deodorants, creams, lotions, or oils in the areas being treated.
What can I expect after treatment?
Directly after a hair removal session, patients might notice hair growth in the treated area as the hair grows out and sheds, but this should stop within two to three weeks. Clients should avoid sun exposure approximately 2 weeks after treatments and should always apply sun block (SPF 45 and higher) when going outdoors.
Are there side effects?
Your risks are minimal. Side effects may include purpura (a laser bruise), redness, blistering, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, and swelling in the treated area – these usually do not last more than a few days. Permanent side effects, such as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation or scarring, are very rare.
What are the Long-Term Results?
Complete hair removal lasts six to twelve months before a touch-up session is needed. However due to hormonal changes, “inactive” hair follicles can sometimes start producing new hairs when least expected. The more routine patients are with their laser hair removal treatments, the weaker the hair follicles become and the longer it takes for hair to regrow.
