Pigmentation & Vascular Lesions with Candela GentleMax

Pigmentations & Vascular Lesions with Candela Gentlemax Laser in Green Bay, WI

Pigmentation and Benign Keratoses Removal

The Candela GentleMax can effectively remove unwanted brown sun damage spots and benign keratoses without scarring. Some common reasons clients wish to remove pigmentation:

  • Cosmetics: Pigmentation, such as age spots and freckles can be considered unsightly by some people and can make them self-conscious about their appearance. Removing pigmentation can help to improve the overall look and feel of the skin, making it look more even and youthful.
  • Medical: Pigmentation can be a symptom of an underlying medical condition, or it can be a side effect of certain medications.
  • Sun damage: Prolonged sun exposure can cause hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone, which can make the skin look aged and dull. Removing pigmentation caused by sun damage can help to improve the overall appearance of the skin and prevent further damage.

Best Time for Treatment

The late fall and winter are the best times to start treatment of these lesions since the skin should be shielded from sun exposure before and after treatment for the best results. Some spots may require more than one treatment.

The skin tends to be a little tender and patients should know that any brown spots that were treated will look significantly darker for five to 14 days, depending on the location. On the face, in particular the central face, patients should expect those brown spots to peel off in about five days. Around the perimeter of the face, it can take about a week. On the chest and other areas of the body, cell turnover takes even longer, so results can take up to 2 weeks.

Treatment of Vascular Lesions and Broken Blood Vessels

What are Vascular Lesions?

Vascular lesions are abnormal clusters of blood vessels that appear on the skin, usually as a results of broken or dilated capillaries. They can appear on other parts of the body. Vascular lesions are benign and do not pose any health risks, but they can be of cosmetic concern for some individuals.

The GentelMax is used to treat these lesions by using laser energy to selectively target and destroy abnormal blood vessels while sparing the surrounding tissue. The treatment causes the blood vessels to coagulate and the body reabsorbs them, thus improving the appearance of the skin.

There are several types of vascular lesions, including:

  • Telangiectasias: small, dilated blood vessels that appear as red or purple lines or spots on the skin
  • Spider Veins: Similar to telangiectasias but smaller and closer to the surface of the skin
  • Hemangiomas: raised, red, or purple birthmarks that can appear anywhere on the body
  • Venous lakes: blue or purple and are found on the lips, ears, and face

Treatment Recommendation

The Treatment is usually done in a series of sessions, spaced out at 4-6 weeks intervals.

Because the background redness and broken blood vessels are a result of broken blood vessels, you should expect to have some redness, swelling and possible bruising for several days after the treatment.

We suggest that you do not take aspirin or NSAIDS (ibuprofen, Aleve, Advil, Motrin Meloxicam, Celebrex) for 1 week prior to your procedure if medically allowable. We do not advise any patient to stop any blood thinners for this procedure.
